Fleece and yarn from naturally coloured Shetland and Jacobs sheep

I keep a small flock of Shetland and Jacobs sheep for their wool. The Shetlands come from the Islands and are Moorit (dark shades of brown) and Grey Katmoget (grey with white underparts.) The Jacobs are entered for fleece competitions at shows – usually with good results! They are a dual purpose breed with beautiful natural greys, whites a, browns and blacks. Wool and conservation grazing are both important to me and the link to bee-keeping is key. We grow clover to produce both nectar for the bees and an important protein source of the sheep.
