Small scale semi-worsted spinning mill

Rampisham Hill Mill is a family run small scale semi-worsted spinning mill in Dorset, specialising in the processing of sheep wool, fleece & fibre to the customer’s specifications. With batch sizes starting with as little as a single fleece, we offer services to individuals and businesses including:

  • Scouring and Opening fibre
  • Carding fibre into Sliver, or Batts
  • Needle felting Batts into felt sheets
  • Gilling Sliver into Roving
  • Spinning Yarn
  • Plying Yarn
  • Cone Winding & Hank Reeling or Finishing Yarn to Twisted Skeins

Using a mix of the latest computer controlled fibre processing machinery alongside some traditional machines we have lovingly restored, we have designed a purpose built mill building which utilises an Air Source Heat Pump and Solar PV technology to supply green energy to the mill, in conjunction with using Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) approved products on the fibres, and we aim for the processing of your fibres to be as carbon neutral as the fibre itself.

For Handspinners, Felters, Quilters, Knitters and Crocheters along with general crafters, let us do the hard work so you can spend more time enjoying working with the prepared fibre, and ultimately make more products without having to do the preparation!
